My 5 Summer Must Have's!

Wow, it's hard to believe that it's been almost a year since my last blog..since then, we've moved into our new home, Angelina graduated kindergarten and Anthony started a new school. I was also offered a job with MAC as a freelance makeup artist!

I get lots of makeup/beauty questions...and I'm truly flattered that so many ladies think of me when they have makeup questions! I love everything about makeup!!

Okay, so here are "My 5 Summer Must Have's!"

1.) MAC LUSTRE DROPS
Just add a few drops to your favorite body lotion (in your hand not to the bottle)or one drop to your foundation and you've got an instant summer glow!

2.) MAC BRONZER in REFINED GOLDEN
This really is the key to getting a youthful, healthy looking
"kissed by the sun" look! Apply it to the sides of your forehead,
along the jawline and in the hollows of your cheeks and then
down your neck.

3.) MAC LIPSTICK in ANGEL
This is the prettiest lipstick I have! It's my go to for every makeup look! Apply it with a nude lip pencil (MAC's Stripdown is my fav) and you get a nudy pink mouth or a bubblegum pink lip pencil and you get a really pretty, summer pink color! This color would look good on every skin/eye color!

4.) DETOX WRAPS
Okay, I only just discovered these detox wraps a few weeks ago..a good friend told me that she had tried one on her stomach and lost 5 1/2 inches (with her first wrap) and has continued to lose inches with each additional wrap! I was a little skeptical but thought what do I have to lose except some disgusting fatty toxins!? First, I did my hips- I lost almost 2" Second, I did my stomach- I lost 1 1/2"! It was amazing! Also, the texture of my skin looks better and my hideous stretch marks are lighter! Since regular detoxing is healthy, it's a win win!! I truly love these wraps! I can't wait to do another one!
I was going to put before & after pics of my stomach, but then thought, maybe that wouldn't be such a good idea! lol
*Feel free to come ask to see my before & after pics, cause I'll show you! lol

5.)VICTORIA'S SECRET BODY MIST in the BEACH scents
These scents are so light and beachy! I love them! Most perfume gives me a horrible
headache, but these are wonderful and light..

~Feel free to email me if you have any questions about the makeup or want some info on the wraps!~ dktorri@aol.com

Below is a before & after pic of my sweet friend Mandy...I used the Lustre Drops, bronzer and Angel lipstick (w/nude lip pencil) on her.

Summer Makeup Look!

Just a thought...

Okay, my new favorite colors for summer are these goldy, peachy, orange colors! Stop thinking about old ladies in orange lipstick!! These colors are super fun for summer! Don't be scared off by the sound of orange makeup either! I want to encourage you to step out of your box and try something new!
Remember to have fun with your makeup and always try new things! Come on...it'll be fun!

Bella took a couple of pic's of me wearing this makeup look yesterday!

1. MAC foundation (I use Studio Sculpt in color: nw25) It's a gel based foundation that goes on light and flawless..it can also be layered for more coverage too! (I wear this everyday!!)

2. MAC bronzing powder in color: Refined Golden (I wear this everyday!)

3. MAC Mineralize powder in color: By Candlelight (I wear this everyday!!)

4. MAC blush in Springsheen (amazing summer color!)

5. MAC eyeshadow in color: Paradisco

6. MAC eyeliner in color: Teddy (it's the most beautiful brown you have ever seen!)

7. MAC Lipglass in color: Pink Lemonade

These are all super fun colors that will look great on almost all skin tones and eye colors!

*Apply your foundation to your entire face; don't forget your eyelids & lips!
*Apply your bronzing powder to your cheeks starting at your ear and moving towards your top lip, sides of forehead, jawline and neck.
*Apply your Mineralize Skinfinish powder to your cheekbones, down the center of your nose & your browbones.
*Apply your blush to the apples of your cheeks only!
*Apply your eyeshadow to your eyelid (with maybe a fun goldy brown (MAC's Twinks is gorgeous) or dark pink (MAC's Sushi Flower is to die for) to your crease)
*Apply your eyeliner to your upper eyelid lashline, your lower lashline and waterline.
*Apply your lipgloss

TIP: Wear lots of black mascara with this look! (I love, love, love Loreal Voluminous)

Hope you love this look as much as I do!!

PS..I tried to upload a video of how to apply the powders: / Crazy thing won't load!

"The perfect eyebrow!"

Just a thought...

Ok, if you're anything like me, you want to look the best you can all of the time! I have been married for fifteen years (to the same person..lol) and have four kids from 5 yrs. to 14 yrs. (I know, I know, I look waaaaayyyy too young to have a 14 yr. old..lol) anyway, I also run a daycare, so if anyone has an excuse for "not trying" it's ME! I think when we as busy working women or stay at home moms stop caring about the way we look, we should be ashamed of ourselves. I know this may sound old fashioned, but in most cases when we met our husbands we weren't in sweatpants, with no makeup and our hair pulled back in a yucky ponytail. We should try to look our best for our husbands and ourselves! When we look great we tend to feel great! About two years ago I had a four yr. old little girl in my daycare...one morning my alarm went off 1 hr. late...there was NO time for a shower or makeup!! (yes, I consider makeup as important as a shower!) This little girls mom didn't say a word when she saw me, but I knew what she was thinking...the little girl kept looking at me funny before finally saying, 'Ms. Dana, how come you don't look like a princess today?' I love how honest kids are...most of the time! ha No, I don't wear a tiara to do daycare or as much as I would love to, a house dress and pearls to vacuum in, but I do feel like there should be some thought put into my appearance each day.

"THE PERFECT EYEBROW"

FIRST: Waxing vs. Plucking: I prefer....both! I have zillions of little blond eyebrow hairs that grow clear down onto my eyelid! It would take me a month to get them all!

SECOND:
Between waxing, you must maintain them by plucking! (mine grow very fast!) Be careful not to overdo it though...just pluck where the hair was waxed. I also have a small mirror that magnifies by like 100x! You can see every hair! It's amazing!! (got it at Target)

THIRD: Take a pencil and hold it next to your nose..that's where your brow should start. Next, while keeping your pencil against your nose, move the top half directly over the center of your eye while looking straight ahead...this is where your arch should be. Next, keeping the pencil next to your nose, move the top of the pencil to the end of your eye and that's where you want your brow to end. (See above pic's!)

I love MAC eyebrow crayon in the color: FLING and for a slightly more dramatic look or if you have darker hair, the color: LINGERING (MAC eyebrow crayon is $14)
If you prefer using shadow, you will need a flat, stiff angled brush and a darker brown shadow like, Swiss Chocolate from MAC. (MAC eyeshadow is $14 MAC angled brow brush $19.50)
Finally, always finish with a clear mascara...I like Cover Girl Natural lash mascara(around $6)...it keeps all of your eyebrow hairs in place!

Remember that your eyebrows are the frame of your beautiful face! Have fun!
